I have been gardening in my pyjamas at five o'clock in the morning for as long as I can remember. I have certainly had this passion for a long time. In the mid 1990s I decided to give up my career in the acting profession and retrain as a gardener. The day I turned down a good job, because going on tour would mean I would miss my aquilegias flowering, was a light bulb moment.....
I did a WRAGS (Women Returning to Amenity Gardens) training and got my placement at The Manor, Hemingford Grey in Cambridgeshire, a garden famous for its roses and Iris collection..... and completed a course in garden design. I worked at The Manor until my son was born and had some time being a fulltime Mum. I then moved to Scotland and gardened and designed gardens for five years in the rain.
Now back in the sunshine of Norfolk, I have become more and more concerned about the plight of the bees, and believe if everyone had a bee garden ( plants which bees can easily access for pollen and nectar) we could at least be trying to redress the balance.
I collaborate with several local hard landscapers, to achieve the garden design you require.
